Hi all! So, I was in Virginia/ District of Columbia for a conference 7/12-7/17, and the opportunity was obviously too great to pass up, so my family and I stayed a couple extra days for sightseeing.
I'll give you a breakdown:
THURSDAY- flew in, got there 4-ish Eastern time, went to the National Mall, saw all of the memorials. That was cool. Went on metro for first time, stayed in hotel. All in all, an ok day.
FRIDAY- conference
SATURDAY- conference, went swimming in the evening.
SUNDAY- museums- International Spy Museum, National Art Museum, and the National Air and Space Museum, a 8 o' clock dinner of instant oatmeal on the floor of our hotel room.
MONDAY- walked around Layfayette square, saw White House and Department of the
Treasury, National Museum of American History, Capitol Hill, DC By Foot Tour, Capitol Tour, National Air and Space Museum.
TUESDAY- Mt. Vernon (George Washington's house) was so cool! They added a museum on the slavery there, and an education center on Washington. 2 hour delay at the airport- not cool.
Happy Sunday!
